MARCELLUS NISHIMOTO

VISUAL ARTIST AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Nishimoto graduated in Graphic Design and Visual Communication from the University of Brasilia. He is the grandson of Japanese parents, who provided the artist with direct contact with Eastern culture. He was born in Goiânia, capital of the State of Goiás in Brazil, where he lives and works today. He works as a visual artist, designer and art director and has also taught at universities in the various disciplines of Art and Graphic Design. Currently he also develops teaching work in naturalist drawing and painting of fauna and flora and Art History.

Nishimoto's works are laborious with the use of traditional techniques and are intended to capture and make visible the richness and importance of biodiversity. These are extremely detailed and complex works that take hundreds of hours to complete. The theme that he lately explores in his works is the Brazilian fauna and flora. The artist does extensive research on the abundance of native life in Brazil, just like the first naturalist artists who arrived in the country and, fascinated by the biodiversity of the Americas, portrayed the beings living here. Birds, plants, insects and other forms of life are the elements that Nishimoto brings to the focus of his art and that lead us to reflect on the variety and future of these species. The artist has already participated in several collective and individual exhibitions in Goiânia and abroad, and his works are part of collections in several places in Brazil and other countries.
